Chilling out in Goa
Internet seems to be a hot commodity here in Goa and dinner is calling so this will be kind of short. I also want to download some photos as the beach is gorgeous! We are staying in Benaulim, South Goa. It's a lovely place that has enough restaurants and little shops to keep us occupied but it nearly litter free, has a beautiful long gorgeous beach and friendly people. Gavin and I had more dramas leaving Mumbai but I am sure you are all sick of me bitching about India... so I will skip to the 14hr bus ride and say it was the worst ever as I threw up at least 5x during the night, barely got any sleep and was wishing for a gorgeous bed that didn't move. After the bus we took a rickshaw to Benaulim, as we'd decided from the guidebook it looked relaxed, slow but not too slow and the beach sounded great.
It's the busy season here but we managed to score a beautiful little hotel for only 250 Rupees a night ($6) a total bargain here, and the owner is lovely. It's called Antonette's Guesthouse. The downside is we can only stay until Dec 23rd because then he is booked. We went to the next town over today which is Colva, we had grand dreams of finding a resort and treating ourselves for a week but the place was horrible. So we will look around Benaulim tomorrow.
The beach - it's heaven. It's very clean, the sand and water are great and last night we had fresh seafood at a restaurant on the beach. I haven't smiled this much in ages.
More to follow and pictures when I can get the computer to read them. There are only 2 Internet places in town but lots of people. But it's more of an older crowd or couples, haven't seen too many party hippy types which was our plan!

Hey Miss Melanie,
Some great news - I have also joined the land of the engaged! This is the best feeling ever - I couldn't stop smiling & I even cried. We went away for a long weekend up the Sunshine Coast and Ads did a beautiful, romantic, night-time beach proposal. I didn't know it was coming. He had designed the ring with his jeweller friend. It's exciting hey!! I feel so grown up.
It's hard travelling when your heart is somewhere else - aka your beautiful country! That said after being home and settled for over a year now - I really yearn the freedom to pack up and go for months & months at a time. Hard call but I'm sure you guys will make the right one - u are experts by now!
I simply can't wait to see you guys! I have also pencilled in the wedding date for a canadian reunion but we will see - hopefully will be with child or have a cute little tacker by then! Maybe we could move back there then - hmmm food for thought. PS - you guys are never allowed to move away from Banff!! Selfish girl I am. I hope that your trip is looking up and I hope you have an awesome Xmas.
Love and big kangaroo?? hugs. Used to give bear hugs from Canada but now must accept I am Australian not Canadaian! xxxooo
