Mornington Peninsula

We just had a fantastic long weekend here in OZ. Cass and Pete had Thursday and Friday off so the 4 of us drove down to the Mornington Peninsula. It's about 1.5 hours away, right on the Ocean and full of wineries. We rented a little house which was on someone's property. It was fantastic, roomy with a full kitchen and bbq and 5 minutes from the beach. They even had a tennis court. We drove to about 5 different wineries and did tastings. The tastings are usually free, you get a few sips of whichever wine you want to try. We bought a beautiful bottle of Paringa Estates Pinot Noir. The area has rolling hills, many vineyards and windy roads. It was really pretty. Along with wine we also found a cheese farm and had a cheese tasting platter and bought some of that too. Cass and Pete taught us a few moves in tenni too which caused many a laugh.

The Australian Open (tennis) has been on since we arrived and we've been watching it on tv. It's been really cool to watch. Last night the men's final was on - Federer from Switzerland VS. Gonzolaz from Chile. I was cheering for Gonzolaz as he's the undercard and played so well all week. We went to the big stadium where the final was on and paid $20 for ground tickets, this meant we could watch the game on a big tv along with other fans. What a great atmosphere! Federer won but it was a really good match.

The photos are from the wineries and at the Open last night, you can see all the Chilean fans up the front!

We fly to Tasmania on Wednesday night and will be there for a week.
