AUSTRALIA HERE WE COME
Right after I last wrote Gavin and i decided that we were more than ready to get to Australia in January, instead of the planned April. Since then we have spent way too much time on the phone with British Airways in India and the US and finally made it happen today. So now we are flying from Bangkok to Melbourne on Jan 19th and arrive Jan 20th! I am very excited! We are leaving Goa on Jan 8th for Mumbai and got the last 2 train tickets for about one week, luck is finally turning our way. By tomorrow we will have our flight from Mumbai to Bangkok and aim to spend about one week there. Our list of things to do in Bangkok contains: eat a hamburger in a Western restaurant, go to the movies and an A/C mall, eat street food and shop on Khao San Road, hit the market, do a day trip, possible cooking class, eat more Thai food. You get the idea, we are missing the Western way of life! You might all think I am funny but until you have been away from modern conveniences for 3 months you just can't understand how much you miss them.
The annoying thing is that we had to pay to upgrade our seats, and I'm sure we will still be in the same class. But we decided that since they had no seats in our class until March 11th it was worth it. We are still loving Goa and still in the same spot but just don't have a lot of desire to explore more of India. We have also changed our return ticket from Brisbane to London and get to London on March 20th. From there (depending on money and how we feel) we would like to spend about one month in Eastern Europe as we've both always wanted to go there. I am hoping to spend 2-3 weeks in Toronto/Burlington in April or May at the end of our trip, before heading to Banff for the summer and long term. Gavin will come to Ontario for about one week too.
It's New Years Eve here now. Nothing major going on with us, just dinner and drinks on the beach and we will celebrate the dramas of our flight change being over (I'm pretty sure we have talked to BA 10x in the last 3 days but i'll leave it at that) and all of the wonderful things 2007 holds.
Happy New Years to everyone.
