Our rooms are sorted - it's time to relax!

Agh relief! After 2 days of looking around Benaulim we have found accommodation for Dec 23rd and onwards. Where we are staying now is lovely but he's booked up over Christmas. The town next to us is Colva and it's horrible, we don't want to stay there. Today we went and checked out The Taj Exotica for kicks, it's a 5 star resort but we couldn't get a proper look until we went inside of it to check prices. Woah! It's 56 acres and beautiful, but at $650 US a night there is no way we can afford even one night as a treat.

We found a few okay places and wandered down a little road and then found a beautiful guesthouse, and amazingly they had a cancellation and therefore a room for when we want it. It's 10mins from the beach and the room is beautiful. The price is pretty good and the couple who run it are lovely. Gavin and I are really happy with it and finally now we can relax. Theyhave a website which is www.heavengoa.co.in if you want to look. They don't have a restaurant yet but do have a lovely area for sitting down and serve breakfast which is fine for us. We will eat seafood and yummy beach shack food the rest of the time. So from Dec 23rd to about Jan 5th that is where we will be. There is a photo of the beach in goa on there and that is really what it looks like.

It's so nice to be enjoying ourselves finally in India. A few people have asked about our plans after Goa. We haven't totally ruled out going further South to Kerala. But to be honest most of India has been a lot of work and frustration and anger for not much in return, so I'm not sure we want to put any hard work in after a month here. this town is lovely, the people are really friendly and we are getting to know a few locals with hello's etc which we didn't do at all anywhere else, it just barely seemed possible (except a bit in Udaipur).

This morning we went for a jog along the beach, it was so blissful. Gavin seems intent on joining me everyday which is awesome. The views are beautiful so 35 mins passed quickly even though i haven't run in forever.

We heard that Christmas Eve is tradionally a time when people celebrate a lot here so I think we are going to book in at a nice restaurant on the beach for lobster! We were shown a huge one for 900 Rupees ($20) which is a great deal by normal standards but not something we would splash out on everyday. I've had kingfish, tuna and calamari so far. We've only gone swimming for a bit yesterday but now that our accommodation is sorted we can start RELAXING!

Melanie & Gavin! Yay, so glad you have a sweet spot to spend Christmas. I'm sure Dad will be making caesar's on Christmas day and we'll raise a glass to you.
Love, Katie.
