Not much going on

Christmas in the tropics has come and gone. I say tropics because it is generally about 90 degrees F here everyday. It's never rained and there is pretty much no A/C. but we do have a fan in our room and it cools down at night and first thing in the morning.

Most of the celebrating here is done on Christmas Eve. During the day we rented bicycles and rode around the area for a few hours. On the way back to Benaulim we took the beach route, it was great fun but harder than it looks to find sand hard enough to not sink in!

That night we had booked a table at Palm Resort Restaurant which has a lovely courtyard and there were even a few fireworks. Gavin and I had lobster and tiger prawns (the length of my hand) as a treat and they were delicious. Even with treating ourselves for the night it was still a good deal at about $40Cdn between us including drinks and all of the rest of it.

Walking to the restaurant was lovely, all of the villagers had put Christmas lights up and only lit them up that evening. They are very last minute here compared to North Americans at christmas time, but it made it more special. We also realized they probably only lit them for the one night because they don't have enough power otherwise! There was a lot of flickering power during the evening.

Since then I am sorry to say I have had a bit of a stomachache and upset stomach. Nothing compared to my time in Nepal but enough to make me do a whole lot of nothing and eat pretty plainly. We did have a fun Christmas night though. We made some friends down here so there ended up being 8 of us who had dinner by the beach. Mostly Canadians! Two of the girls are sisters from Vancouver (Hi Jesse & lily!) that I met a few years ago visiting my cousins. They happened to be here at the same time so we managed to meet up, now I must say it's such a small world that they are even on the same beach as us. So it's been fun to hang out with some other travellers.

Gavin and I are now feeling sufficiently relaxed and nearly really to start deciding where we might go to next. Our thoughts are either Kerala which is south, back to Mumbai and then to Bangkok and OZ or??? So I'm surfing the web a bit today to look up transport info and the Indian websites. Apparently the south is this nice everywhere so we might be tempted to explore more of it. Or our frustrations might come out again and we'll fly out of here!

Comments:
Someone told me recently they had a hard time leaving a comment on my blog. Since no one has ever left a comment on my blog (which i did think was a little unusual) I decided to check into. When I set my blog up i clicked something I probably didn't need to click! So the comments people had tried to leave were still saved, I just needed to tick off that it was okay to publish them. So I have done that now, I did that originally because I didn't want people trying to sell things etc to put comments on there. All should be well now and if I have to change it back then I know how to check for comments and publish them on there.
